Although I’d always say that blues is my favourite music to both listen to and play, I love lots of different styles of music. These include jazz, rock, and flamenco, so you won’t be surprised to learn that one of my favourite albums of recent years is Rodrigo y Gabriela by Rodgrigo y Gabriela. It’s a wonderful blend of flamenco, jazz, and, a little weirdly, thrash metal, and features fantastic covers of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven and Metallica’s Orion, as well as the wonderful Tamacun.
Rogrigo y Gabriela met in Mexico City while playing for thrash metal band, Tierra Acida. They later moved to Dublin, Ireland after becoming frustrated with the limitations of the music scene in Mexico. Once in Dublin they busked on Grafton Street and Temple Bar and got their break when Damien Rice asked them to support him.
The video below features the duo explaining their technique and showing you how to play just like they do. It’ll take a ton of practice but if you listen to what they say and keep at it, you’ll enter a wonderful world of flamenco thrash jazz fusion.

Feedback: If you only ever play acoustic guitar and can envisage only ever wanting to play acoustic, then Jamorama Acoustic has some good content, the best of which are the videos. However, if you play electric guitar or think you may in the future, the original Jamorama is the best deal for you.
‘The Jamorama Acoustic download is a pretty cool download for the most part. I am a pretty casual student and I have learned quite a bit from this course. The videos are probably the best part of the course as a lot of the other material can be found online on the dozens of guitar lessons sites on the web. I would recommend it to someone that is completely new to playing guitar and wants a complete package all in one download.’ Shelly H on reviewguitarlessons.com
‘The Acoustic package covers the basics, but it won’t give you the broad range of techniques that the original Jamorama package will give you.’ InfinityTimes82 on Squidoo
